SBIA Women Board Members Share Expertise at White House Event

WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 1, 2015) – The Small Business Investor Alliance (SBIA), the leading association of lower middle market private equity funds and investors, congratulates four of its women board members for being recognized for their influence and valuable contributions to the private equity industry. Marilyn Adler, Carolyn Galiette, Jeri Harman, and Pamela Hendrickson participated in high-level discussions at the White House on issues impacting women investors.

Hosted by The White House Business Council and U.S. Small Business Administration on May 28, the meeting was designed as an “interactive dialogue about the issues, challenges, and opportunities pertaining to women investors.” The event brought together senior level women in the financial industry and government to discuss perspectives and new ideas that may inform potential policy actions.

“We have an amazing group of women investors who are very active in SBIA, and the women executives who were chosen to contribute their experiences at this important event are leaders and accomplished individuals in the private equity industry.” said Brett Palmer, President of the SBIA. “ The SBIA offers dedicated sessions at our regional and national conferences for our women members focused on providing a forum for discussion and sharing of best practices.”

“Our meeting in Washington was a great first step towards helping to improve diversity within the private equity industry,” said Marilyn Adler, Managing Director at Medley Management. “Women represent approximately 5% of senior management in private equity1 and change will likely be driven by Limited Partners that agree that diversity in our industry is both appropriate and shown to add value over time.”
